Our Reliance On The Spirit

Isaiah 41:17-18

17 When the poor and needy seek water,
    and there is none,
    and their tongue is parched with thirst,
I the Lord will answer them,
    I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers on the bare heights,
    and fountains in the midst of the valleys;
I will make the wilderness a pool of water,
    and the dry land springs of water.

Isaiah 44:1-5

But now hear, O Jacob my servant,
    Israel whom I have chosen!
2 Thus says the Lord who made you,
    who formed you in the womb and will help you:
Do not fear, O Jacob my servant,
    Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land,
    and streams on the dry ground;
I will pour my spirit upon your descendants,
    and my blessing on your offspring.
4 They shall spring up like a green tamarisk,
    like willows by flowing streams.
5 This one will say, “I am the Lord’s,”
    another will be called by the name of Jacob,
yet another will write on the hand, “The Lord’s,”
    and adopt the name of Israel.
Feel the desperate thirst of walking in a desert. Seek the Spirit that is Living Water.

Consider our poverty of spirit, our thirsts, and our desperate need for the Holy Spirit. Is that need as real to you as the texts describes?

Behold the availability of the Spirit for us who know need.

Pray for the outpouring of Spirit, a flowing stream of His presence, that remakes all of us as His own.
